If you think Southern California is all shopping malls, freeways and theme parks ... then why don't you take a hike with us! We are first and foremost a hiking club. WE LOVE TO HIKE. We have hikes for beginners, we have hikes for advanced, experienced hikers, we have hikes for everyone in between. Some of our hikes are easy, some are moderate, and some are very difficult. Our hikes can be lots of fun and a great opportunity to meet other fellow hikers. Plus we all get the opportunity to explore our wonderful mountains.

Join HPS for its annual Awards Banquet at Taix French Restaurant, as we celebrate our accomplishments and visit with friends new and old. This year's speakers will be Craig Carey and Bryan Conant; their presentation will be on the "Highlights and High Peaks of the Southern Los Padres".

Craig R. Carey grew up hiking and backpacking in the southern Los Padres National Forest. An active Scout leader and Volunteer Wilderness Ranger, he is the author of the comprehensive Hiking and Backpacking Santa Barbara & Ventura.

Bryan Conant is the Executive Director of the Los Padres Forest Association (LPFA), President of the Condor Trail Association, and a Volunteer Wilderness Ranger with the Los Padres Forest. He has backpacked just about all the trails in the southern Los Padres and created two trail maps of the Santa Barbara and Ventura backcountry.

Cocktail Hour begins at 4:30 pm, with dinner being served at 6:15 pm. To reserve your spot, complete the reservation form (indicating your entrée preference) and send $40 per guest ($45 if after January 3, 2015) to:

Upcoming Outings Here are the outings for the next week. Wanna plan further ahead? Visit our outings page!

Powerhouse Fire Closure Reduced. Burnt, Sawtooth and Liebre are no longer suspended!

The Waterman Video! Last July, we celebrated the 25th anniversary of the Waterman Rendezvous. Thanks to Bill Burke, we can now enjoy it again!

Historic maps! HPS is over fifty years old. Here is a collection of maps developed by Brent Washburne and digitized by Wolf Leverich showing our routes from the 1990s.

Read our newsletter and join our Section! We have a lot of fun bagging our peaks and we think you would, too.
